When it comes to finding a rewarding career that allows you to help people and make a difference, Dental Assisting is one of those career fields! If you are wondering if you have what it takes to successfully engage patients and co-workers alike, we can help you find the encouragement you need to proceed with a good game plan.

At the Dental Assisting Institute of Virginia and with Dr. Tom Schleicher at the helm, we have been helping students achieve just that for many years! In fact, Dr. Schleicher runs his own successful dental practice accompanied by his skilled team. Together they can teach you all you need to know to break into the dental assisting field for your own rewarding career.

To qualify, your studies take place over 13 weeks where you will be attending 78 hours of lectures and labs and take part in a 50-hour dental assisting internship. As you can see, your time and energy will be devoted to learning as much as possible. After learning the essentials, you’ll be qualified to work in a dental-related clinic as a dental assistant.

Your day-to-day duties may involve taking X-rays, scheduling patient appointments, assisting with dental procedures, and of course, helping the patient feel comfortable. Take a personal assessment of your potential skills by asking yourself the following questions:

-Do I have strong communication skills?
-Am I approachable?
-Am I flexible?
-Do I have an eye for detail?
-Do I have a good work ethic?
-Am I a good team player?
-Do I have strong interpersonal skills?
-Do I have great organizational skills?

If your self-assessment shows that you are strong in these areas and you have the commitment to make the most of your skills and time learning what you need to know, you are a STRONG CANDIDATE for becoming a qualified dental assistant.
